We launched the top 10 areas where visitors live or work a few weeks back and the customer feedback has been great! This has now been extended to top 50 areas, which gives an even better view of the potential customer base.

The area profiles with charts and tables for competitive situation, spending, movement and demographics are now also available on mobile

Improvements and bug fixes
π¨ The x to close tooltips was not completely centered
Not a critical bug, but several of you noticed. Now that itβs fixed, you can focus your attention on more juicy insights!
π The button to add new expansion areas was missing for a while
Get in touch if you want help with adding or editing areas you are considering as part of your expansion strategy
π Outline of selected areas was not visible in area profile map
π Area profile would reset to summary tab when going to a new area
π It was not possible to edit text format in space description
π For a brief period, was not possible to save hubs as favourites
π BankAxept data was not updated daily on a few instances
This has been fixed quickly when reported by users, and we are also working with the data partner to increase stability with a larger update. In the meantime we appreciate feedback from our users if it should happen again.
New features
π All the Plaace commercial hubs have now gotten names!
We have down some automagic work and given names to all the commercial hubs. If you have suggestion for better names in a hub close to your heart, please send a suggestion our way via the chat or theπ‘Β when youβre logged in

We introduced download for charts in area profiles last month, and now you can also find the download button for charts and tables on concept and property profiles.

Weβre gradually going through our product and making sure it also works well in the mobile browser. Now weβve finished concept and property profiles. Next up are the area profile insights!

π Movement data for Q1 2022
Movement data for first quarter of 2022 has been added to all charts and areas
π Historical revenue in mall profiles
Historical concept turnover for all tenants of a mall, split by category of concepts.
Improvements and bug fixes
π¨ More relevant insights for new malls
If a mall didnβt exist yet in 2020, some of the key insights showed as empty. Now we have a dynamic rule that displays the most relevant year per mall, e.g. at LΓΈren Torg
π For some spending charts, the data had not been updated since April 10
This was due to some area definitions changing, and it ended up affecting all areas. Weβve made the update smarter, the daily update is back on track again and the missing days have been added
π Previously sketched area kept reappearing when switching to other area types
This was quite annoying, so we fixed it!
π Map was sometimes stuck in Oslo
When looking at areas elsewhere in Norway, the maps would sometimes show in Oslo instead of the selected area. This should now be fixed!
π Wasnβt possible to add some concepts to favourite lists directly from the profile
You can make favourite list of anything in the platform, whether potential spaces, interesting concepts or areas. This functionality was missing from some concept profiles, and itβs been fixed
π It was sometimes not possible to change year in locations table for unclaimed concepts
New features
π Plaace areas profiles available to everyone
Now itβs possible to explore the areas without creating a user first, either directly from a google search, the Plaace homepage, or if someone shares the link to an area. Stay tuned as weβll soon introduce some more area insights for everyone!
Improvements and bug fixes

We had an issue where only collaborators on a property could see key insights like total turnover and number of visits to neighbouring area, this is now fixed and available to all users with paid subscription
π Some links between properties and spaces were outdated
This is now working, and weβve also implemented a fix to avoid similar issues in the future.
New features
π Where visitors live or work
We are really excited to introduce a new insights based on the Telia movement data. For any area in Norway, you can see top 10 home areas of people visiting an area, also known as the catchment area. It's based on actual movement data, and not just theoretical travel time by walking or driving.
This is available to users on the paid plan, reach out to contact@plaace.co if youβd like a demo, or would like to upgrade your subscription directly.
π Download data from all the charts
We introduced download for Monthly spending earlier this month, and now itβs also available for all charts and tables in area profiles like spending, movement, competitive situation and neighbourhood. This is available to users on the paid plan.
π Data available for more granular areas
The smallest available statistical units in Norway, the βgrunnkretsβ (base areas) tend to be smaller in more populated areas, which gives a more granular view of data and insights. They are used in the new movement chart to display where visitors live or work, and theyβre also available in the boroughs view
Improvements and bug fixes
π¨ The list of spaces is now sorted by last created on top
The sorting by creation date in βFind spacesβ disappeared for a while, but has now been re-introduced. Based on feedback from users, βFind spacesβ is now automatically filtered to only show spaces that are available βFor rentβ or βAvailable soonβ. Itβs still possible to change the filter to see occupied spaces.
π¨ More areas are now available with spending data
For areas that have changed municipality definition over the years, like Asker, we did not manage to display spending data, and were instead just showing data for Norway. This is now being handled dynamically over time for all types of areas
π¨ Some desktop features looked a bit weird for brief periods of time
As weβve worked on making some features more mobile friendly, it has on a few occasions messed up the layout on desktop. We are continuously improving both desktop and mobile
πΒ Some charts and tables had old βupdatedβ dates
The data and content itself was up to date, but the last updated function did not work correctly, and showed e.g. βUpdated: April 1, 2001". This has now been fixed
π Space profiles were unavailable for a brief period
This was reported by a user and we immediately fixed it
π Some charts showed 2022 instead of 2021 in the timeline
πΒ Bug in first version of download data from charts
When we launched download of data from charts, there was a mix in order of magnitude of some numbers in a few of the charts. This was quickly corrected and affected users were notified directly.
New features

π Embed a profile on your webpage
Hereβs an example of using the embed functionality on Notion. It will display the public version of a profile, but the user has to sign up to see contact information and more details.
π¨ Vulkan added as a mall
Vulkan has been added as a mall. Let us know if you miss some malls in the Plaace platform
New features
π Filters and map zoom stays the same for Area Insights
As you explore different areas, and navigate between pages, we will now remember the map setting and other filters youβve turned on during your visit. This was based on feedback from several of our frequent users, and should make exploring much smoother!
π Add locations to your profile already when you sign them
Add a new location to the concept profile, including signing month and tentative opening month. This helps you better showcase the status of your expansion plans and keep track of your progress.
π Add space size (m2) to your locations
Keep track of the space size of each of your locations. This also showcases to property managers what your current portfolio looks like.
π Split of chains vs. independent concepts in malls
How many chains vs. independent concepts are present in a mall can indicate what type of profile and crowd the mall is addressing. Thatβs why weβve included this chart not only on area profiles, but also directly on the mall profiles.
Improvements and bug fixes
π¨ Total number of spaces is now shown in map
To make the performance as good as possible, we sometimes limit the number of items we show at once in the map. This was also applied to the cluster of spaces (the big orange circles), but unfortunately made it look like we had less spaces available in each city. This has now been changed to reflect all spaces.
π¨ For tenants on free plan, spaces will now also show in the map
In an area profile, we always show the spaces for rent, but they were not reflected in the map. This is now available to all tenants
π¨ Possible to change language while creating a new profile
Now itβs possible to change the language setting while youβre editing something, like creating a new space or concept. Before, this would reset the page and you would have to start over π
π¨ Search for facilities is no longer Case sensitive
If you searched for a facility with Capital letter, it wouldnβt show up as an alternative in the search result, but this is now fixed
π Going into profiles from table only worked with cmd+click
Now, it will also work if you just click on a name in the table
π Total population was not visible for a while
π It was not possible to add new locations to concept profiles
This has been fixed, and weβve added some new improvements as well!
Happy new year from team Plaace, we look forward to an exciting year!
New features
π Spaces for rent in the largest Norwegian cities
Several customers have already added available spaces in places outside of Oslo, but now we have good coverage in Bergen, Trondheim and Stavanger and expect to see more activity from users in those regions.
π Post a link to your space or concept and get name and picture included
When you post a link to your space or concept on certain places like Linkedin or Facebook it will automatically add the name and main picture. For some places, like Slack, it will also add part of the description.
π Historic spending data Trondheim and Bergen boroughs
We recently introduced spending data for boroughs in Trondheim and Bergen, and this now includes historic data from January 2019. Can you spot how the covid restrictions impacted the number of card transactions in Trondheim city centre?

The average visits for Q4 2021, and 2021 as a whole year are now available for users on the paid subscription.

New features
π Share profiles with people who are not Plaace users
You can now copy the url to your space or concept and share with others in emails, linkedin, facebook, etc. Others can see a preview of the profiles without having a Plaace account.
If you experience a lot of incoming requests about your space or concept, it can be good practice to first have them take a look at your Plaace profile, with the up-to-date details of what youβre looking for, and also ask them to make a Plaace profile describing what they are offering.
πΒ Sign up to explore more about a space or concept
With a part of the profiles being open to the public, it lowers the threshold for more people to explore and understand what the market looks like. In order to see contact info and more details about your space or concept, they still have to create a user and log in.

π Property managers now have access to see all active tenants on the platform, and explore their concept profiles
Knowing that some spaces are kept off-market, itβs very valuable for tenants to communicate that they are actively expanding and looking for new spaces. At the same time as we are making a version of all profiles public, weβve also updated the access for property managers on the free plan so they can see all tenants.
π Boroughs and heatmaps available in Trondheim and Bergen
We now have boroughs for Trondheim and Bergen, in addition to Oslo. This makes it possible to show certain info as heatmaps, e.g. age, population and income distribution. The boroughs and heatmaps are in addition to the smaller commercial hubs available all over Norway. By clicking into any of the areas, you can see more info, like neighbourhood, spending, competitive situation, etc.
Improvements and bug fixes
π¨ Search for concepts and navigate to profiles also on free plan
One of the easiest ways to find a concept profile in the platform is to use the search or category drill down of concept composition in area profiles. This has only been available on the paid plan, but we've now made part of the info available and searchable for all users
π¨ We added a tooltip to better show the split of categories in a mall
Login and Microsoft account
π¨Β We've made it possible to log in with same email as both Microsoft and Google account
πΒ Logging out of platform was not possible when using a Microsoft account
πΒ Fixed some issues with using Microsoft account on Edge browser
Other fixes
π¨Β It's now possible to save any type of area to favourite lists, also boroughs and municipalities outside of Oslo
π¨Β It's now possible to open any element in a new tab (right click or with keyboard shortcuts)
π We fixed some issues with setting a team member as contact person on Properties
πΒ Users on the free plan could not see revenue information about their own concept

For the two charts "Distribution by age" and "Distribution by income", some of the categories were in the wrong order

We are live with property profiles! More than 600 mall profiles are available in Norway with the current tenant mix and revenue per tenant.
π Claim your property profile and list available spaces
Find your property, claim ownership and add more info like pictures, description and floor plan. You can also list any available spaces.

Create profiles for individual buildings or a new project. You can link existing or new spaces to the property. You can also attach a pdf presentation, floor plan and link to any other resources.
π Historic movement data per visit type
See the development of average daily visits over time. In this area you can clearly see the Covid-19 effect, but also how the area is slowly recovering.
Improvements and bug fixes
π¨ Collaborators can also invite others to edit a profile or favourite list
Previously, only owners of a profile could invite others to edit and collaborate. Now, everyone with edit access can invite additional people to collaborate on profiles or favourite lists.
π¨ Updated map on Space profiles to show which area it's located in
Regardless of where a space is located, it will show on the profile if it's close to a commercial hub, and viewers can click to learn more about the area.
π¨ Edit the name of a Favourite list
A small change that will improve the user experience of lists. Now you can also edit the name. Make a list of your favourite profiles or areas, and share it with a colleague.
π¨ Weekly updated numbers from Prognosesenteret
The numbers in the platform are now automatically updated every week as we receive them from our partner. This allows for recently reported financial numbers to be included, or any other changes based on feedback.
π Growth percentages were sometimes very high
We had a bug in the way we calculated growth percentages, and it could show as a very high number if e.g. it was the first year with revenue for a tenant.
New features
π Movement data per visit type, day of week and historic overview
We've provided some more details to the movement charts and you now have the ability to drill down into movement by type at home, at work or visiting. You can also select which time period to see the data for, either quarterly or yearly basis. For the busiest hours chart, you can also select day of the week.
Improvements and bug fixes
π¨ Zoom buttons in area insights are more accessible
A user made us aware that the zoom buttons in the area insights map were hidden behind a dialogue box, they have now been moved to the upper right hand corner for all of the maps.
New features
π View card spending by category in Norway and municipalities
Get a closer look at the data for either Retail, Dining & Experiences or Services. For the Norway and municipality charts, you can also drill down into 40+ detailed categories of card spending.
π Product tours for new users, or selected new features
When joining Plaace as a new user, you will not get a quick tour of how to get the most out of the product. As an existing users, we might sometimes give you a quick intro to new features. Let us know what you think!
Improvements and bug fixes
π¨ Card transaction data is now updated daily
We've been working with our partner to improve this, and now the data should always be available the next day for all the spending charts! Did you know that yesterday, there was a total of ~3.1 million card transactions in the retail sector?
New features
π Claim a concept
Earlier this fall, we launched a really cool feature that auto-generates concept profiles with revenue information for some of the largest chains in Norway. Now it's possible to claim one of these profiles if you own it, and add custom info like pictures, contact info, expansion plans or other details. Go to an area and see if your company has a profile, and claim it now!
π Updated with 2020 data from Prognosesenteret
Financial reports are in for many of the concepts, and this is now reflected in the platform. In general, many numbers have changed from red and yellow (needs validation or estimates) to green (based on actual reported numbers).
π Ability to change year for revenue data on concept profiles
We recently launched profiles for the largest chains in Norway, with info about revenue and number of employees per location, and the numbers were based on 2020 financial year. Now, it's possible to change the year for the locations table and see the detailed info for previous years as well.
π Spaces for rent in each area
When exploring any area in Norway, tenants will now see a list of available spaces in that specific area. This works for custom drawn areas, as well as commercial hubs or boroughs.

Did you know that you can always save a space, concept or area in different lists and share with colleagues or partners? Accessing your lists was temporarily unavailable, but this is now back!
π Size filter was not working

π Wandering logos For a while, it looked like the company logos for the homepage link were trying to escape, they are now all back in their plaace.
New features
π Movement data is live!
Together with our partners in Telia, we have launched movement data as one of our area insights on the platform. You can draw a custom area, or select one of our hubs in Norway, and see distribution of people throughout the week and during the day. More detailed insights will be added this fall.
π See which concepts are looking to expand into an area
For each area you are exploring, see if there are any concepts that have listed it as an area they are actively considering for future expansion. This is available for property managers with the paid subscription plan.
π Revamp of the mini-cards that show a space or concept profile in the map
We've made it much easier to stay on the map and get a quick glance at many different things, check out the cool new design that highlights key information of each space or concept, and even lets you navigate through the pictures. For users on the paid version, each concept pin will also show the revenue information and number of employees.
Improvements and bug fixes
π¨ Much better performance
Our development team has been doing a major improvement of the speed in the platform. One of my favourite improvements is the search function among the concepts with the highest revenue in an area, and going in and explore more info about a specific concept
π We couldn't always open our newly launched concept profiles with revenue info
Earlier in August, we launched a really cool feature that auto-generates concept profiles with revenue information for some of the largest chains in Norway. We were a bit quick to launch, and have since been working to smooth out some of the issues
New features
π Card transaction data outside of Oslo
We've been live with the BankAxept card transactions for Oslo since July, but now we also show data per municipality outside of Oslo. Did you know that people in Bergen tap their cards almost as many times on Fridays as Saturdays?
π¨ Improved speed
We're always working to make the Plaace platform even better to use, this time we've worked to make the use of maps faster!

When updating the contact person for a concept or space, it will now also be reflected in the search results visible to other users.
π Not all spaces were consistently showing in the big area map
When zooming in or moving around in the map, the spaces in the map will update to show the relevant results. This sometimes led a few spaces to not be included, this is now fixed!
π Spaces were no longer sorted by newly added
Spaces are automatically sorted by the most recently created ones. This feature was temporarily not working as intended.
New features
π Spending data from Vipps
The Vipps data represents ~75% of debit card transactions in physical stores in Norway (BankAxept). The graphs are updated weekly, and any changes in shopping patterns can be detected quickly. At the bottom of each area page, daily spending for all of Norway is visible. This chart is updated daily to show the last 30 days of card transactions. More detailed data for municipalities outside of Oslo will be available soon.
π 2020 data available for Competitive situation
The actual and estimated revenue per business location is now available for 2020.
π Market gap analysis
A market gap analysis per area is now available as part of the Competitive situation.
Improvements and bug fixes
π¨ Stay on selected data tab when navigating between areas
We've added an improvement that lets you stay on the selected data tab when navigating between areas. This makes it easier to quickly compare the same analysis for different areas, whether it's the summary, competitive situation, spending or demography.
π¨ Turn off areas
Sometimes you just want a cleaner work area, so we've made it possible to remove the hubs or boroughs from the map, in combination with the other filters like spaces and concepts.
π Estimate tags for Neighbours had the wrong colour The colour was green even though the tag said "Estimate", this is now yellow like it was intended

It was sometimes not possible to click on a space in the map to see more details, or go into the profile with all the information. This is now fixed!
New features
π Remember settings as you navigate between different areas
When you select what data to show in the Area Insights map, we will remember those settings as you navigate in and out of selected areas.
π Match list of spaces to selected map view
When you zoom in to an area, the list of spaces will adapt, so it only shows the relevant ones for the area you're looking at.
Improvements and bug fixes
π¨ Option to filter on type of concept among the 50.000+ concepts available on Plaace
In Area Insights, you can see all concepts in Norway. It's now possible to filter and just show one concept type, e.g. Retail. The map shows more results as you zoom in or move to other areas.
π¨ Boom, zoom!
When entering a specific area, the map is now more zoomed in to focus on the selected area. And when you search for a street or place, the map will zoom all the way in, not just show the whole city.
π Norwegian version was gone for a little while
Our Norwegian version of the Plaace platform was not available for a period, this is now fixed. Velkommen tilbake!
π Words got split in two
When describing your concepts and spaces, words at the end of the line got split in two. It made things a bit difficult to read, so this will no longer happen.
π Pin tooltip kept reappearing
Sometimes, a tooltip with a space or concept profile would keep reappearing in the map as you moved around, this is now fixed!
New features
π Big map
The bigger, the better, right? With our big map in Area insights, you can turn on or off data points based on what you're looking for

π Spice up that concept or space description
We do like a short and crisp text, but realise that sometimes you just need some bullets or bold text to communicate clearly, so check out our new formatting options
Improvements and bug fixes
π¨ A space can be regulated as more than one thing
Is your space regulated as both a shop and an office? Now you can select more than one option
π¨ Remove a pdf

New features
π Share lists of favourites with others
Collect your favourite spaces, concepts or areas in different lists, and share them with others to either view or edit the lists together with you. This is particularly useful for collaborating within a team, together with a broker or others outside your company.
π Automatically add current locations to a concept
When you create a new concept, you can automatically add any current locations if you've entered the Norwegian company organization number. If you have many existing locations, this will save significant time! You can always edit the name of each location later, and add or remove locations.
π "Areas to expand" and "concept presentation" only visible to property managers
As a concept owner, some of the info you add to your profile, will only be visible to property managers on a paid plan. This applies to the "Presentation" section, where you can add a pdf, and areas you are interested in for new locations. In user testing, we've heard the willingness to share this info with property managers, but several have asked whether it needs to be visible to other concept owners. Let us know what you think!
Improvements and bug fixes
π¨ New spaces are now shown at the top of the list
Both concept owners and property managers want high visibility of new spaces added to the Plaace platform, so they are now shown first. Use the filters to find the most relevant spaces for you.
π¨ Added option "to be discussed" for rent type and willingness to change space
Several property managers and brokers have mentioned that they often decide on rent type and potential changes to the space in dialogue with new tenants. One outcome can also be a mix of fixed rent and a percentage of revenue. That's why we've added the option "to be discussed".
π It was only possible to add one floor for spaces
For a while, it was not possible to mark multiple floors for a space, this is now fixed
Added key info to area name, and several improvements to concept chart and map
π¨ When you explore the areas, you can hover over the different areas to see key info before selecting an area with more details
π When we introduced a more granular grouping of concepts, some of the bars ended up with overlapping descriptions. This is now fixed!
π¨ We've now made it possible to filter away locations in the map down to the last category
π If more concepts were located at the same address, only one of them would show in the map. Now, the pin will split into several pins if there are multiple locations at the same address
π Added missing Norwegian translations
We add new features and fixes as quickly as possible, but sometimes this means translations are lagging a bit behind, we've now made a bigger review of the Norwegian translations, let us know if you miss something or have suggestions for better translations!
New features
π Are you a property manager or a concept owner?
To make sure you get the most out of Plaace, we are now introducing roles: are you a property manager or a concept owner? Most existing users have gotten a role assigned to them automatically. If not, you are asked to pick a role the next time you log in. Depending on the role you choose, we will adapt some of the features to best suit your needs.
π Free plans
We are excited to introduce free plans for both property managers and concept owners. Add as many spaces and concepts as needed and explore areas for free. Tenants also get access to all spaces that are available for rent.
